Hey there, Bowdoinhammer,

How about some highlights?

  1. Katie Hudak is back with another Summer Art Camp this week, but this time it’s for kids in grades 3 through 5.

  2. The Age-friendly Bowdoinham group will have a Task Force meeting on Monday. Later, there’ll be a quarterly meeting of the Bowdoinham Public Library Board of Trustees. Anyone willing to pay the $5 annual dues can vote on library issues.

  3. There’s a Select Board meeting on Tuesday. If you’re curious about how towns make decisions, it’s worth it to tune in to the Town Hall Streams link. It looks like they’ll be talking about what a Town Manager does in this one.

  4. The Town Hall Committee will be meeting on Wednesday.

  5. On Thursday the Planning Board will be meeting to discuss the site inspection that they’ll be conducting on Monday, July 29th. Someone is applying to build two apartment buildings on the corner of Pond Road and Main Street. This meeting will also be on Town Hall Streams.

  6. We hope your stuffed animals are excited for the Stuffie Sleepover at the Bowdoinham Public Library on Friday. Stuffies usually have a good time because Kate Cutko and her friends know how to party.

  7. Got $50 burning a hole in your pocket and wanna hammer some flowers? Check out Dandelion Spring Farm on Saturday. Or maybe stop by Merrymeeting Arts Center for the last day of William Stanton’s exhibit. You could do both if you’re one of the cool kids.

  8. Open Farm & Studio Day is Sunday. There’s quite an extensive list of things to do and places to visit. Conserve your energy, because if you can somehow prove that you’ve visited all 24 of the Participants & Venues on the list, we’ll send you a Bowdoinhammer sticker! (while supplies last, obviously)

Melody Cougot is so nice

Our 19-year-old son got himself a farm job this summer. He’s been working harder than he’s ever worked before, and we’re so proud of him.

He likes to treat himself every once in a while, so the other day he picked up a personal pizza at the Bowdoinham Country Store on his way home from work.

Melody Cougot wrote “In case no one told you today… you are AWESOME!!” on his pizza box lid.

I mean, how much better can a pizza get? You can’t get service like that anywhere else, because she’s one of the nicest Bowdoinhammers you’re likely to meet.

Also, if you haven’t tried a Bowdoinham Country Store pizza, you’re really missing out.

We’ve switched our donation link to a service called Tip Top Jar.

There’ll be a link at the end of every newsletter as well as a donation button on the newly remade Bowdoinhammer.com.

  • Pickleball, Bowdoinham Community School TENNIS COURT (23 Cemetery Rd.), 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. This is open to adults of any age and ability. The group has friendly games with mixed levels of competition. WEATHER PERMITTING. 

  • Art Camp with Katie Hudak: Session 2, 3rd grade - 5th grade, at Bowdoinham Community School (23 Cemetery Rd.) 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. In partnership with Bowdoinham Recreation Dept. and supported by Merrymeeting Arts Center. $225 pre-registration required (Heron Fund available).   • Bridge, Bowdoinham Fire Station (57 Post Rd.), 9:30 AM - NOON. FMI: Judy Gray, 666-3025. The group welcomes all players. Current players range from high-scoring duplicate players to seniors who played in college and newbies who have taken a class. 

  • Bible Study for beginners, The house behind the church (7 School St.), 10:00 AM, and again at 6:00 PM. FMI: (207) 751-6888 or [email protected].

  • The Clothes Closet, The house behind the church (7 School St.), 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM. FREE clothes for those in need.

  • Town Hall Committee Meeting, Kendall Room, John C. Coombs Municipal Building (13 School St.) 3:00 PM.

  • Bowdoinham Food Pantry OPEN, Bowdoinham Food Pantry (9 Main St.), 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. For all residents of Bowdoinham and Bowdoin. Building community, with food. NO income verification. FMI: (207) 751-7779. Shop there first. 

  • Tennis - "Bowdoinham Specials", Bowdoinham Community School tennis court (23 Cemetery Rd.), 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM. WEATHER PERMITTING. 

  • Open Pottery Studio, Merrymeeting Arts Center STUDIO (9 Main St.), 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. $10 Suggested donation. The maximum capacity is 10 pottery enthusiasts. 

  • Mid-Week Bible Study and Prayer Gathering, Second Baptist Church (1 Church St.), 6:30 PM.

Thursday, July 25th

  • Trash Pick-up Day. Trash tags can be purchased at the Town Office and The Bowdoinham Country Store for $3 each. Pick-up times vary.

  • Recycling Drop-off, Public Works Facility (121 Pond Rd.), 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

  • Bowdoinham FREE Gift Shop OPEN, Bowdoinham Recycling Barn (243 Post Rd.), 8:00 AM - 4:00P PM. The Recycling Barn will take source-separated materials for recycling on the first Saturday of the month.

  • Bowdoinham Farmers' Market, Mailly Waterfront Park (1 Main St.), 8:30 AM - NOON.

  • Sunday Service, Bowdoinham Second Baptist (1 Church St.), 10:00 AM. Potluck BBQ following service. 

  • Sunday School/Service, Bowdoinham Church of the Nazarene (7 School St.), 10:00 AM, Service 11:00 AM.

  • Third Annual BLOCK PARTY, Bowdoinham Food Pantry (9 Main St.): Open Farm Day Tour Stop 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Silent Auction 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Chicken BBQ 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM 

  • Summer Concert Supper with "**Rough Sawn**" playing at the gazebo in Mailly Waterfront Park (1 Main St.) 5:30 PM. Bowdoinham Food Pantry will serve food. The music starts at 6:00 PM.
