Could we fit more things in a weekend?
Bowdoinhammer - Week of July 8th to the 14th.
Hi there Bowdoinhammer!
Welcome to the 2nd week of July. I hope the holiday weekend left you with your fingers and toes attached.
Let’s get into the updates & highlights:
The kiln at Merrymeeting Arts Center needs to be repaired. Unexpected repairs like this can really mess up their operating budget. Won’t you slap some cheddar on that biscuit? Please go to merrymeetingartscenter.org/donate.html to donate $$. Every little bit helps.
There’s another online safety course at the Library on Tuesday. This one is called “Safely creating online accounts”. These classes are free to the public, but you need to register beforehand.
The Solid Waste Committee meeting that was on Wednesday the 10th, was moved to Wednesday the 17th.
If you’re into School Board Meetings, there’s one at Mt. Ararat High School on Thursday.
There’ll be an opening reception for William Stanton’s exhibit on Friday at Merrymeeting Arts Center. Yeah. Merrymeeting Arts Center.
Not Your Mother’s Garden Club has organized a garden tour for Saturday, with some brick oven pizza as a tasty treat. Proceeds go to the Bowdoinham Public Library. They put a lot of work into it, you should check it out.
There’s more information about these and other events below, so keep scrolling.
How about this heat?

One great way to beat the heat is going to the waterfront park on Sundays to check out the Summer Concert Series. You get to listen to some music while eating food you didn’t have to cook.
This week, the Intergalactic Yurt Band will be there to tickle your eardrums.
There are few events in the 'ham which provide such widespread collaboration as the Summer Concert Series. Earl Bigelow of Watersong Music with the support of the Town of Bowdoinham brings a variety of musical performances to our waterfront every summer while inviting local non-profits willing to bring a delicious meal to the evening entertainment. Aside from a few motorboat interruptions, it always goes off without a hitch, weather permitting, and it's a great one-stop-shop to support our local organizations, listen to a familiar band or new favorite, and bring your weekend to a close at the best bandstand around (but we're pretty biased). Make it a weekly tradition this year- you won't be disappointed.
The Bowdoinham Country Store is hiring.
For more information, send them one of those electronic mails. Their email address is [email protected].
Supporting a local business is good for everyone.
