Getting into the swing of things

Bowdoinhammer - Week of January 6th to the 12th

Happy Monday to you Bowdoinhammer.

Please bear with me while I get back into the swing of things.

If there are any events that you notice aren’t included in this newsletter, please let me know by replying to this email.

I’m pretty much recreating this thing from scratch again. It’s daunting but NOT impossible. Cross your fingers for me, would ya?

Here are this week’s highlights:

  1. Need some sand for your walkways? Sand is available to Bowdoinham residents at the Mailly Waterfront parking lot. If you need help, contact Jason Lamoreau at (207) 666-3101.

  2. The Town of Bowdoinham would like your input on the proposed mural on the road side of the bathroom building at the town landing. They have three different themes they would like the community to vote on in this little survey thingy they put together. The options they give are Agriculture, Waterways and Nature, and Arts and Craftsmanship. They’ll be talking about it in more detail on Tuesday.

  3. The American Red Cross needs blood. Can you hook them up with some of yours on Thursday? That reminds me of a joke. Why don’t vampires ever donate blood to the Red Cross? (scroll down to the bottom to find the answer)

  4. Bowdoinham Community Connections will hold open office hours at the Fire Station on Fridays.

  5. If you want to learn how to make gemstone hoop earrings and you have Saturday free, pop into the Merrymeeting Arts Center for their latest workshop.

  6. All Bowdoinhammers get to Swim For FREE at the LeRoy Greason Pool (Bowdoin College), starting this Sunday and into April.

As I mentioned in the previous newsletter, Bowdoinhammer is partnered with Bowdoinham Community Connections (BCC for short).

BCC is a volunteer program to support Bowdoinham residents’ access to essential services. Trained volunteers from the community are available to help overcome the big and small challenges that get in the way of making progress in improving one’s health and well-being.

If you or someone you know could use assistance with filling out applications for new benefits or finding resources to make a home safer or life easier, please let them know by contacting the BCC Outreach Coordinator at [email protected] or calling (207) 814-8879.

BCC also has open office hours every Friday at the Fire Station (57 Post Road).

That’s all for this week, folks!

The answer to the joke from earlier is: Because they prefer withdrawals over deposits!

I crack me up.

Have a great week!
