Labor Day? More like Labor YAY!

Bowdoinhammer - Week of September 4th to the 10th

Dearest Bowdoinhammer,

Did this summer vanish like socks in a washing machine? Tomorrow is Labor Day already and I have about a billion sale advertisements in my inbox. I didn't even get the chance to go swimming this year.

Can I put an idea in your head for tomorrow?

Labor Day isn't the biggest holiday we have but it's important. It's meant to honor the social and economic achievements of American workers, and their contributions to America's strength, prosperity and well-being. Personally, I like to stay home and NOT buy anything so that people that do have to work on Labor Day have an easy day if they don't get it off. You certainly don't have to do that, but at the very least, tip well. The people that usually have to work on holidays are the lifeblood of this country and deserve our respect.

There are some pretty cool things happening this week. If you haven't seen it yet, check out the Within Wood exhibit at the Merrymeeting Arts Center, then you can go on the Fall Plant Walk at Dandelion Spring Farm. After that, if you haven't had enough farm strollin', check out the Farm Tour at Apple Creek Farm.

For more juicy details on these events and more, just keep scrolling. We've got you covered.

Do you have any friends that might want to know what’s going on in Bowdoinham? Share this email with them and tell them to subscribe to the newsletter. They’ll probably think you know EVERYTHING.

The Bowdoinnhammer Postcard project is an ongoing community art project. If you would like to be involved, make/buy a postcard and put your sentiment/story/poem about Bowdoinham on it and mail it to PO Box 181, Bowdoinham, ME. 04008. Once we get enough of them, we'll have a gallery exhibit at Merrymeeting Arts Center.

That’s it from us here at Bowdoinhammer.

With love (and a newfound respect for the washing machine),
