The Bowdoinhammiest!

Bowdoinhammer - Week of February 10th to the 16th

Well, hello there Bowdoinhammer.

Fancy meeting you here!

I was driving to work down River Road the other day, and for a moment, I was convinced my car was falling apart—maybe a serious misalignment, maybe a bent axle. But no, it turns out it’s just pothole season starting up.

The seeds of those cracks and dips were planted back in the fall, and now, in true Maine tradition, they’re starting to bloom. Nothing says “welcome to February” quite like a road that suddenly feels like it’s trying to shake you apart.

That’s such a Mainer thing to complain about, right?

If there’s anything more Bowdoinhammmy than pothole season, it’s the most Bowdoinhammiest selfie ever—and thanks to Jennifer Bowie Merrill and Patrizia Rametta Bowker, we’ve all now had the joy of witnessing it.

Behold…

It would have taken longer, but maybe I should have snowshoed to work. It looks like a lot of fun.

Here are the highlights for this week in Bowdoinham:

  • Sharp-wits gather at the pub on Monday night for Goats in the Road Trivia. Also on Monday, the Select Board meeting (it was moved up from Tuesday).

  • There will be a town discussion on Wednesday about what to do with the Bowdoinham Country Store, with guest speakers. Later on, part 3 of the 3-part seminar Seeing the Forest and the Trees will happen.

  • An Age-Friendly Bowdoinham luncheon will go down at the fire station on Thursday.

  • Bowdoinham Community Connections open office hours happen on Friday afternoon. Stop by and shoot the breeze before or after you buy your honey flowers and chocolates because it’s Valentine’s Day!
