Dearest Bowdoinhammer,

It’s a wonderful day when you get mail that isn’t a bill or some other junk. We just LOVE getting postcards. Poland is great and all, but they’ve never sent us a postcard like our friends on the west coast. Our little town is popular all over the place. Check this out:

When we get more postcards, we’ll setup a website to display them. The ultimate goal is to make better scans and reprint them for a show at Merrymeeting Arts Center.

Here are this week’s highlights…

1. Matter of Balance Training will be at the Bowdoinham Fire Station on Monday and Tuesday. Folks who are concerned about falling should check it out.

2. Pickleball is back on Monday and Wednesday.

3. If meetings really do it for you, you’ll have a bunch to pick from this week. The Town Hall Committee will meet on Tuesday, Solid Waste Committee on Wednesday, Planning Board and MSAD 75 School Board on Thursday.

4. Tap into your inner artist for the Card Making Workshop with Dawn Stevens on Saturday.

• Matter of Balance Training at the Bowdoinham Fire Station (57 Post Rd.) 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM. This will be a session of 8 total classes presented by certified trainers. Call Allie Eck (207) 373-6970 to register.

• Pickleball in the Bowdoinham Community School gymnasium (23 Cemetery Rd.) 3:45 PM to 5:45 PM. This is open to adults of any age and ability. The group has friendly games with mixed levels of competition. New to Pickleball and want to learn? Stop by and check it out!

• Open Pottery Studio at the Merrymeeting Arts Center Studio (9 Main St.) 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. $10 Suggested donation. The maximum capacity is 10 pottery enthusiasts.

• Recycling Drop-off at the Public Works Facility (121 Pond Rd.) NOON - 6:00 PM.

• Bridge players can enjoy weekly gameplay at the Bowdoinham Fire Station (57 Post Rd.) 9:30 AM - NOON. FMI: Judy Gray, 666-3025. The group welcomes all players. Current players range from high-scoring duplicate players to seniors who played in college and newbies who have taken a class.

• In-person shopping for ALL Bowdoin and Bowdoinham residents at the Bowdoinham Food Pantry (9 Main St.) 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

• Silver Striders Walking Club in the Bowdoinham Community School gymnasium (23 Cemetery Rd.) 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM. Please be sure to bring clean shoes to wear when inside the school!
