So that's what democracy looks like.
Bowdoinhammer - Week of June 3rd to the 9th.
Happy Monday to you, Bowdoinhammer.
I probably should have stayed home on Saturday to get some work done, but I thought it was more important to go to the Town Meeting instead. You don’t have to twist my arm to get me to procrastinate on projects.
I’m glad I went because I learned a few things:
It’s the best place to see how the town thinks. It’s a relatively organized way to hear the opinions of it’s members and be exposed to others’ ideas.
You get to see friends and neighbors you wouldn’t normally see.
The people who brought camp chairs were probably the smartest ones in the room. My butt still hurts today.
Cathy told me that her Mom, Nancy Curtis, likes to read this newsletter so I’d like to say “Hi Nancy! How are you today? I’m fine. Thanks for reading this newsletter. It means a lot to me. Alright, talk to you later. Have a great day!”
"All the ills of democracy can be cured by more democracy."
If you like committee meetings, you’ll love the highlights this week...
Are your friends sporadically impressed with the random stuff you know? If so, you could be a trivia champ at Three Robbers on Monday night.
The Library will be hosting the class Learning About Devices on Tuesday. Later on there will be a Community Development Advisory Committee meeting.
There will be a Finance Advisory Committee meeting and a Housing Sub-Committee meeting on Wednesday.
The Cemetery Advisory Committee will be meeting on Thursday.
If you’re into fried seafood, you’ll be happy to know that Sylvester’s Fish & Chips will be at the waterfront on Friday (and Saturday and Sunday). There will also be an opening reception at MAC called Nets, Lines, and Other Entanglements. It could be a seafood-themed date night if you time it right!
There’s nothing special happening on Saturday, just something called a Bowdoinham Farmers’ Market. Apparently it’s back, or something.
The Three Robbers Pub will be celebrating it’s Birthday on Sunday. Please don’t ask how old it is though. That’s not polite.
There’s some more information about these and other events down below, so keep scrolling.
Not this week but next week:
Keep democracy alive, and VOTE in the Primary Election at Bowdoinham Community School on Tuesday, June 11th. The school will be open from 8 AM to 8 PM, making it convenient for all residents to participate. Encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to join you at the polls. See you there!
